Wetlands are areas where water, soil, and plant life combine to form some of the most productive — and most protected — habitat on a site. Whether an area is a “jurisdictional” wetland determines which permits a project needs and how impacts must be offset.
Delineation follows the 1987 USACE manual and applicable regional supplement — three parameters (hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, wetland hydrology) confirmed in the field and mapped to a boundary. Acreage and waters classification then drive the permitting pathway and mitigation ratio.
